On Monday, November 12, I proudly accepted an award from Mayor Newberry, on behalf of our Southland Association members, for their efforts regarding Beautification, Tree Planting and Community Activities on Southland Drive. I want everyone to know that their efforts have been officially recognized in this way by The LFUCG Environmental Commission.

Members of The Southland Association now have the opportunity to participate in the Sunday Farmer’s Market. We have four tents and signs available for each remaining Sunday through October 29. (Market runs from 10 am – 2 pm).
The tents will be provided by The Southland Association. You must bring your own tables and merchandise, coupons, etc. After the market is over you will need to clean up and break down the tent for storage at a designated site.
The Lexington Farmer’s Market has agreed to let us sell product at our tents as well as give away coupons and display merchandise. We don’t, however, want to sell any product that competes with the vendors of the Market.
To reserve a tent, email Melanie at roederer@iglou.com or call at 278-0266.

The Lexington Farmers’ Market board of directors has agreed to allow our Southland Association members to sell their products at the Southland Sunday Farmers market. Previously, we were only able to display products and give away samples and literature.
We view this as a very nice opportunity for our members to have access to perhaps 1000 or more potential customers on any given Sunday and to expand our members sales. As an example, neighborhood associations might want to use a booth for bake sales or other fund raisers. Other members might want to feature their newest products or specialities. Some might want to bring in their closeouts at greatly reduced prices. Product demonstrations can now be combined with selling the product on the spot.
The new agreement allows up to four of our members to participate each Sunday, and The Southland Association will provide the pop-up type 10′ x 10′ canopy booths at no charge for member use. We will also provide signs to identify ourselves as Southland Association members. Members provide their own display tables, chairs, etc. Our booths are to be spaced about 50 feet apart and facing the front of the farmer’s booths.
At this point we need to determine how many members are interested before purchasing the canopy booths, signs, etc. We would also like to know how frequently you think you might like to participate. Once we have an idea what kind of participation to expect we will know how to proceed.
Please respond by e-mail, phone or fax by July 31st. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.
Thanks,
Phil Wyant
